Cape Town Waterfront

Visit the Cape Town Waterfront. Considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Cape Town is a mix of the old and the new. South Africa’s most popular tourist destination has preserved the old buildings that show the history of the area while at the same time, has built modern high-rise buildings to keep up with the requirements of today’s world.

One of the most popular sites to visit in Cape Town is the V&A Waterfront, with Table Mountain on one side of it and Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela was held prisoner for 27 years during the apartheid years) on the other. Trips by helicopter or boat to Robben Island are available. Filled with shopping options including local craft markets where you can find an assortment of locally made items, the area is bursting with choice. Amongst the museums on the waterfront is the S.A. Fisheries museum which details the commercial fishing industry of the country and The S.A. Maritime museum.

There are a number of hotels, bars, cinemas as well as a wide choice of restaurants on the waterfront; the restaurants have a wide selection of cuisine ranging in price from R50 to $200. You can stroll along the walkways or watch the ocean liners and fishing boats in the harbour. Visit the magnificent Two Oceans Aquarium and see some of South Africa’s beautiful marine life or just sit and watch the seals basking in the sun or frolicking in the water.

All year round there are live performances with street entertainers, musicians and performances catering to everyone’s tastes. With always something to see or do, there is never a dull moment on the waterfront in Cape Town, South Arica.
