Unfortunately most of Southern Africa has been urbanized and the are a handful of tribal villages left. The only one i know of the Basotho Cultural Village in Clarens South Africa but its just tourist attraction. They do have old Rondavels that tourist can sleep in.

It’s factually wrong to assert the Ndebele in the former Transvaal province are the descendants of Mzilikazi kaKhumalo. The Ndebele arrived in the Transvaal long before Shaka came to power in Zululand – one group via Pretoria(called Southern Ndebele) whilst the other group came via the eastern Transvaal(called the Northern Ndebele).
The Northern Ndebele identify the Drakensberg as their origin and Langalibalele as their king. The Southern Ndebele say Musi/Muzi is their original King.
Both Langalibalele and Musi and old Hlubi kings.

I’d like to go live with an indigenous tribe in South Africa or Namibia next year. I do have a basic understanding of Setswana and have a few survival skills. I want to do this to broaden my horizons and get to know other cultures. I want to physically work with them everyday to collect food and drink without technology. Any help with making this come true would be appreciated. My passport is ready and I’ll be able to visit any place in Southern Africa. Thanks

I’m a proudly South African lady wearing Tsonga shoes. They are really fantastic quality and unique in their styling. They are readily available in SA in various shops like Cape Union Mart, Trappers trading and Outdoor shops.
In the international market you may find them on ebay or other online shops.

I bought Tsonga sandals that were beautiful a few years back. They were purple and had a carved design and covered toe. I have never found anything else by that name. Is there a tribe still producing sandals? how could I get in touch with them?

Well defined but I want to add something more about my city’s international airport. Cape Town international is the 2nd busiest airport of South Africa and third busiest in Africa. The most interesting thing is; it has won the Skytrax award for the best airport in Africa. It deals with number of domestic and international flights throughout the year. In short I would suggest to Cape Town international Airport whenever you book your flight to south Africa.

I love Oudtshoorn, it is a stunning area. Has so much amazing attractions to choose from. I have been to the Cango Caves before and it was fantastic! As far as I know there are 9 tribes: Zulu, Xhosa, Ndebele, Western Sotho, The Northern Sotho (Bapedi), The Southern Sotho (Basotho), Swazi, Venda and Shangaan-Tsonga.
If anybody has more information on this please feel free to add your comments.
