Sosaties


Sosaties are one of the most popular dishes at a braai. Generally, they are made with lamb but can be replaced with red turkey meat to make delicious sosaties.

Sosaties

Dutch Kebabs made with lamb but can be replaced with red turkey meat to make delicious sosaties.

Ingredients

  • Lamb quantity according to how many servings you need
  • 2 or 3 chopped onions
  • 2 or 3 tablespoons lamb fat this can be discarded after cooking
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 6 lemon or orange leaves coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup water.

Instructions

  • Cut meat and fat into small cubes, season. Put alternate pieces of meat and fat onto skewers. Fry onion in oil, sprinkle on curry powder, and add to the rest of the ingredients in a bowl and mix together. Use this mixture to marinate the skewers of lamb overnight. Before cooking, drain the marinade off the meat and grill or fry the skewers of meat. Serve with rice and Curry sauce.

CURRY SAUCE -

  • Heat the marinade and thicken with cornflour mixed with a bit of water
