Monkey Gland Sauce

Serve at a braai, on steak or fried liver, hamburgers or even use as a dip on the side. Easy to make and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2 chopped onions
  • 1 clove crushed garlic
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp fruit chutney
  • 2 tbsp sweet red wine
  • sea salt to taste
  • freshly ground pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Fry the onions in the olive oil until soft. Do not let it brown.
  • Add the garlic, tomato ketchup, Worcester sauce, chutney, and wine
  • Simmer slowly for about 5 minutes
  • Add seasoning to taste.
  • Serve on grilled or fried steak or liver

Notes

Another serving option is to add the cooked meat to the sauce thinned with a bit of water, cook for a couple of minutes on each side, and serve in the sauce.
